CompactGTL on schedule to deliver Petrobras pilot plant in 2010
Tuesday, January 5th, 2010
CompactGTL plc (“CGTL”), the modular associated gas solution for oil and gas fields, has announced that it is on schedule to deliver a pilot plant to Petróleo Brasileiro S. A. (“Petrobras”) in 2010. The 20 barrel per day (“bpd”) pilot plant will be tested onshore in Brazil during the second half of 2010. The cost of the pilot plant construction and testing project is funded by Petrobras.
The development of the pilot plant for Petrobras has reached a number of significant milestones in the past few months, with the majority of long lead time equipment now installed within the plant at Zeton Inc, in Canada and piping and electrical installation ongoing. The reactors and catalysts for the plant, manufactured by world class suppliers, will be delivered direct to Brazil in the first half of 2010.
Under the terms of its development and licence agreement with Petrobras, CGTL has recently completed a conceptual engineering study for a 2,000 bpd commercial plant to be installed on an extended well test vessel. CGTL has also established a world class manufacturing supply chain to commercialise its technology.
CGTL’s UK fully integrated pilot plant based at Wilton has been in continual operations since mid – 2008. Testing has demonstrated both the viability of the technology and process and the system’s ability to handle feed gases containing significant levels of other contaminants without plant modification. To date, the results from 18 months of testing all aspects of the CompactGTL UK pilot plant and extensive global patenting activity extending CGTL’s leading position in modular GTL, including in Brazil, confirm expectations that it will be the first company to commercialise modular gas to liquid plant production.
Nicholas Gay, Chief Executive, said: “I am delighted with the progress the team has made in recent months and look forward to delivering the Petrobras pilot plant in 2010.”
